As independent Gas Safe installers, we are not incentivised by any particular boiler manufacturer, but our focus and drive are purely on efficiency, value and quality.
Typically there are three types of boilers – Combi, Regular, or System. These are all condensing boilers, and their efficiency is measured on the ‘SEDBUK’ scale. SEDBUK stands for ‘Seasonal Efficiency of a Domestic Boiler in the UK’, with ‘A’ being the highest rating ( 90% efficiency or over).
Regular Boilers
Regular boilers (also known as ‘conventional’ or ‘heat only’ boilers) provide central heating system and hot water via a cylinder for your cylinder. Typically these are used with traditional vented systems having a cold water storage cistern and feed and expansion cistern in the loft.
System Boilers
A system boiler, just like a regular boiler and also works on the principle of stored hot water. However, a system boiler differs from a regular boiler in some important respects. Firstly, some of the major individual components of the heating and hot water system are built into a system boiler, which means that installation is quicker, neater, easier and more efficient. Secondly, the hot water is pumped from the system boiler through the heating system to the radiators and hot water cylinder, resulting in a fast response and more economical running costs. The system boiler removes the need for a feed and expansion cistern.
Combi Boilers
Combi boilers provide both hot water and heating without the need for any storage tanks. Hot water is heated on demand and therefore no hot water cylinder is required. These are ideal for flats or smaller properties where space is at a premium.
